How was Jigsaw set up?

Jigsaw Galway was evolving for over a year and a half before we opened our doors in Galway City.

This time was well spent, listening to over 350 young people in Galway City and County through focus groups, in order to find out what it's like to be a young person in Galway today, and to define what young people want in a youth support service. We also listened to service providers and other community members through interviews, group discussions and surveys.

The Youth Advisory Panel were involved in every aspect of creating the service.

Jigsaw was created as a partnership between Headstrong (the National Centre for Youth Mental Health), the HSE (Health Service Executive) and Mental Health Ireland.

We opened our doors in December 2008, and since then the number of young people we work with has increased from week to week.
