Mental health awareness for primary school teachers

This one hour online course for primary school teachers, has been developed by Jigsaw, in collaboration with ESCI – Education Support Centres Ireland.

The aim of the course is to increase the mental health literacy and skills of primary school teachers of 5th and 6th class pupils.

Participants on this course will:

Gain an understanding of mental health
Recognise the importance of the role of One Good Teacher in supporting and promoting students’ mental health
Understand how to recognise the signs that a student may be struggling with their mental health.

This course also recognises that the demands of primary school teachers have increased. The expectation is not to add extra burden, but to look at ways that teachers can support and promote students’ mental health within the scope of their role given that they already do this in their daily interactions with students.
