Jigsaw celebrates 20 years of supporting young people

Staff from across Jigsaw gathered for an all-staff celebration, followed by an evening event bringing together many of the people who have played a part in Jigsaw’s story.

On Tuesday, 29 September 2026 Jigsaw came together to celebrate an important milestone – 20 years of supporting the mental health and wellbeing of young people across Ireland.

Since Jigsaw began in 2006, the organisation has grown from an ambitious idea into a national youth mental health service, with a simple belief at its heart: that every young person should have somewhere to turn to, and someone to talk to, when things get tough.

Today was an opportunity to pause and reflect on that journey – and, most importantly, to recognise the many people who have helped shape Jigsaw along the way.

20 years, many stories

As part of our 20th anniversary celebrations, the Jigsaw at 20 exhibition brings together the stories of people who represent different parts of Jigsaw’s journey.

From young people, parents and volunteers, to clinical teams, community partners, fundraisers, researchers, educators, supporters and those involved in Jigsaw’s governance and leadership, each person has played a unique role in helping Jigsaw grow.

The exhibition features photographs and personal reflections from 20 people connected to Jigsaw, each telling a different part of our story.

Together, their stories show that Jigsaw has always been about more than a service. It is a community of people who believe in listening to young people, involving them in decisions that affect them and making mental health support easier to access.

Looking back – and looking forward

Twenty years is a significant milestone, but today was also about looking ahead.

The need for accessible youth mental health support continues to grow, and Jigsaw remains committed to being there for young people when they need support.

Our 20th anniversary gives us a chance to celebrate how far we have come, while remembering the reason Jigsaw exists in the first place – to make sure young people have somewhere to go, someone to talk to and the support they need.

A huge thank you to everyone who has been part of Jigsaw’s story over the past 20 years – our staff, young people, volunteers, families, communities, fundraisers, partners, supporters and everyone who has helped us along the way.

Here’s to 20 years of Jigsaw – and to the next chapter.
