2020 was a year like no other

2020 was a year like no other

Tuesday, 07 September 2021

Despite the challenges last year brought, because of you we were able to offer mental health support to thousands of young people across Ireland.

We could give families, teachers, and those who support young people the skills to be there for young people.

The impact of Covid-19 is undeniable. We all faced challenges on a scale we have never encountered before. The implications of lockdown and social distancing meant we had to make a number of changes to how we as an organisation operated.

Young people needed us more than ever

From the moment the pandemic hit, we had to adapt quickly to new challenges and constraints. We created new services to help combat feelings of anxiety and stress.

Virtual fundraising activities replaced in-person events with people connecting online in creative ways. Campaigns through newspapers, radio, TV, and social media let people know how we can support them during these tough times.

We couldn’t have done any of this without you. Our volunteers, supporters, employees… All of you who together are Jigsaw.

Because of you, in 2020, we were able to:

  • Provide online information and support to over a quarter of a million people through our website
  • Offer over 23,000 appointments to young people across our Jigsaw services
  • Provide our training and workshops to over 18,000 people
  • Open a new Jigsaw service in Wicklow
  • Launch new supports, including Jigsaw Live Chat, a new website, and online workshops and training
  • Raise over €2.8 million to fund our services and supports for young people.

We want to share the story of this work with you in our Annual Report for 2020.

Thank you to our volunteers, supporters, and employees for all you have done. In 2020, we worked together to give young people the mental health support they need and will continue to do so in 2021, and beyond.
