Friday, 17 July 2020
Will the coronavirus (COVID-19) affect schools in the east of Ireland near Dublin. I’m fearful that somebody my school can be infected.
I think I’m infected but I don’t know what to do.
Hi there,
There has been a lot of information in the news and on social media about coronavirus. Some of this is true and helpful. However, some of it is exaggerated or just false. Given the amount of coverage, it is understandable that you might feel worried or fearful about coronavirus and its effect on you or those around you.
One of the best things you can do is to educate yourself about what is going on, using credible sources of information. The HSE website provides up to date information and advice about what to look out for. It highlights what to do if you are worried that you may be affected.
If you find that scrolling through your feeds adds to your worry, perhaps think about limiting your use of social media for a while. Again, focus on trusted media outlets and public health sources rather than opinions and theories.
As with all worry, it is a good idea to talk to a trusted adult if you have concerns.
Take care,
