Why don’t teachers get my problem I tell them alot they just don’t care they first thought is just send her to class

Hi Dee,

Speaking to someone about a problem at school, can take a lot of courage. It can really affect us if we don’t get the response that we expected to.

Do your teachers know how to best support you?

It seems like your teachers’ response, of sending you to class, makes you feel like they don’t care. It’s natural to make assumptions about a situation but sometimes, we might not know the full story. It could be helpful to consider the situation from the teachers’ perspective. Do they know how to best support you? They might tell you to go to class because they don’t see things the way that you do. They are also probably thinking about how important education is and wanting to ensure you don’t miss out.

When we feel misunderstood or mistreated, it can be helpful to get support from someone who does get us. This could be a parent, Guidance Counsellor or a friend. With their help it might be useful to have a discussion with your year head about what support you feel you need. They will be able to talk about what is feasible in the school environment. It could be good to think of ways to communicatehow you want them to support you in the future.  This way, you can develop and agree a plan about how to support you best.

I hope things get better for you at school.

Take care,
