Do you think if i killed myself people would remember me because i feel like I’m not the kinda person to be dwelled, School is getting harder and harder and sometimes it feels like i cant breathe with the persure being put on me, Sorry for bothering you with my problems feel free to ignore x

Hi Emma,

Thank you for getting in touch and talking about these difficult feelings. It sounds like things are really tough for you at the moment.

I would urge you to get support, and there are a number of options. First of all, think if there is an adult in your life who you could talk to about these feelings. It could be a family member, teacher or any one you trust. If it’s hard to say things out loud, you could show them this message and let them know that it is you.

It can be surprising how much of an impact we have on the people around us, even if we don’t always feel that they notice us.

Crisis support

It would be good to get help from a service which is trained to support people who are feeling suicidal.  I’m not sure what you would prefer, so I’m going to give a few options.

  • Pieta House offer counselling support.  You can call 1800 247 247 or text HELP to 51444.
  • The Crisis Text Line gives immediate text message support by a trained volunteer. You can text SPUNOUT to 086 1800 280 to begin.
  • The Samaritans have a helpline. Call 116123

When people feel so bad that they think about killing themselves, it is really important that they get the right support. Often when people feel suicidal, it’s not that they want to die, but that they want things in their life to be different. It can be hard, in the middle of feeling this bad, to see how things could be different. However, talking to someone can help us see alternatives and ways forwards.

You may find that thoughts about killing yourself pass, but it sounds like you are under a lot of pressure and it would be good to get some help with minding your mental health during this stressful time.  You can find out which mental health services in your area will be able to help by phoning the Your Mental Health helpline’ on 1800 742 444.

Reach out

It can be surprising how much of an impact we have on the people around us, even if we don’t always feel that they notice us. Emma, often the hardest part on the way to things getting better is reaching out in the first place.
