About us

Jigsaw Limerick is a free, non-judgemental and confidential mental health support service for young people aged 12 – 25 living, working or studying Limerick City and County. We provide guidance and support for young people who are going through a difficult or distressing time. We also provide advice and guidance for anyone who is concerned about a young person in their life.

Jigsaw Limerick is part of a national network of Jigsaw Services supported by Jigsaw, the National Centre for Youth Mental Health. Jigsaw Services aim to provide tailored community-based help for young people’s mental health needs.

Direct support for young people

Jigsaw Limerick provides a welcoming space for young people to get information or have a chat with a support worker. If a young person wants support, our staff are there to listen, without making judgement, and to provide guidance. We also provide information and advice to anyone who is worried about a friend or young person in their life.

We are hiring

We are currently seeking applications for a new Service Manager. See jigsaw.ie/careers for more.

Working with young people

At Jigsaw, we believe it’s vital to make sure that young people’s voices are heard. Our Youth Advocates represent us and take part in decision making at every level.

Working with the community

As well as directly helping young people in tough times, we work towards a community that is supportive of mental health and wellbeing. Presentations and talks in schools, workplaces and community groups open up discussions on mental health, and raise people’s awareness of the support that Jigsaw Limerick can offer.

Tell us about your experience

At Jigsaw, we care passionately about what we do and strive to give young people the best possible support with their mental health. If you are happy, or unhappy, with our service in any way, let us know by completing our online feedback form.

Louisa Grimes Moran

Service Administaror

I am from Limerick City.

Study and work

I worked in administration for over 10 years and moved to Jigsaw Limerick recently. I love how varied and rewarding the role is. My favourite part of the role is interacting with the young people in person or over the phone.

Emma Hickey

Senior Clinician

I am from Cork but have spent a lot of my life in Limerick.

Study and work

I am qualified as a Clinical Psychologist and have previously worked with young people in both child and adult mental health services. I am really interested in collaborating with young people to understand and make sense of the challenges they experience in their everyday lives.

Aoife Walsh

Youth and Community Engagement Worker

I am from Clare but I’ve spent most of my professional life in Limerick working with young people.

Study and work

I am from Clare but I’ve spent most of my professional life in Limerick working with young people. I studied in Mary Immaculate College and completed my HDip in Education at NUI Galway. I am delighted to be part of the team here in Limerick because it gives me an opportunity to raise awareness about mental health and to help young people feel valued and supported.

Kelly Ballantine

Senior Clinician

My name is Kelly and I’m from Limerick. When I first left school I studied psychology and philosophy. Back then, you could usually find me somewhere on campus debating about all kinds of interesting topics.

study and work

Later I trained as an Integrative Psychotherapist and worked in private practice. Initially I worked mainly with adults but as I started to work with more young people I realised how much I enjoyed it. As I was passionate about the potential for change within youth mental health, I felt like Jigsaw would be a good fit for me.

Outside of work I enjoy yoga, hiking, outdoor swimming, being part of a community garden, and sitting in my own garden chilling with the neighbour’s cat.

Roisin Gillane

Clinician

I am a proud Clare woman, although living on the Clare/Limerick border can be difficult in Championship season with a family who are divided supporters.

Study and work

I graduated from NUIG with a BSc in Occupational Therapy in 2022 and was lucky enough to begin my career in Jigsaw.

I am passionate about working with young people to support their health and well-being, through health promotion strategies and the engagement in meaningful occupations. Jigsaw provides a diverse platform to do just that!

Elaine Kingston

Elaine Kingston

Senior Clinician

I am a proud Clare woman although I love travelling and have lived and worked in America, Canada, UK and Australia.

Study and Work

I did an Arts Degree when I finished school and went on to do Higher Diploma in Social Policy and a Masters in Social Work graduating in 2010. Before starting in Jigsaw in June 2023 I worked for over 10 years in Child Mental Health. I made the move to Jigsaw because their values were in line with mine. I am passionate about working with young people to work through any challenges they may face and support them to advocate for themselves to improve their pathways in life.

Karen Dowling

Karen Dowling

Clinician

Home is where the heart is. And my heart is firmly stuck in Limerick (even though I now live over the border in Clare).

Work and Study

I have also spent a number of years working in University Students Unions and advocating for people that needed it. I then went back to college to get my Masters in counselling and psychotherapy as I am passionate about supporting and empowering people to overcome challenges and to live their best lives. I enjoy working with younger people as they have such a unique energy. It’s rewarding to see the positive impact that supporting them can have. This is why it was a no-brainer for me to work with an organisation like Jigsaw.
