Our commitment to diversity
Monday, 16 May 2022
We are proud to share our diversity, equity, and inclusion policy, More than words.
Here at Jigsaw, we believe everyone should be treated with respect and dignity. We are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive culture, where people feel a sense of belonging, regardless of their background or situation.
Our commitment
We are committed to actively challenging discrimination, promoting equality, and protecting the human rights of staff and service users and those we engage within schools, communities, and fundraising.
Jigsaw has a duty to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in our work and to account for progress on this in our annual report.
In working to challenge discrimination and promote equity of opportunity and treatment, we make the following commitments to:
- assess, implement and report on progress towards promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in Jigsaw
- strive to work through a responsive practice lens through our daily work, by listening closely to young people who experience exclusion in their everyday lives and reflecting on how Jigsaw can best adapt and respond to meet their needs
- ensure that, in their interactions with Jigsaw, no staff or service users, or those we engage within our work in schools, communities, and fundraising are discriminated against or treated less fairly on the bases of gender, civil status, family status, sexual orientation, disability, age, race, religion and membership of the Traveller community
- make reasonable adjustments to accommodate people with disabilities or groups of people who may be disadvantaged in society and take positive measures to promote equality of opportunity
- attract, support, and develop a diverse and culturally competent workforce
- endeavour, through our day-to-day work, to use evidence to inform decisions and best practices around
diversity and inclusion - seek to work in partnership with organisations to promote diversity, equity and inclusion.
