Research and Evaluation

There are always emails to answer and a few short informal daily meetings. Apart from that, there is always something exciting to do, be it analysing data to drive business insight, building dashboards, or writing up a research paper.

Every day brings a new challenge and reward. It always feels like you’re contributing to something and making an impact.

I started my career as a social worker, before moving into the non-profit sector. I focussed on the monitoring and evaluation of infectious diseases prevention and treatment programmes in South Africa.

I have a master’s degree in epidemiology, a postgraduate diploma in social science methods, and a degree in social work. I was specifically looking for positions in monitoring and evaluation in Ireland when I came across my current post. I applied, and the rest is history.

Two things are important to me, organisational culture and the impact of an organisation. I was especially interested in how the organisation treats data/evidence, as well as how they feel about technological innovation. Jigsaw has ticked all the boxes!

As a certified data geek, I am happy to do what I love: taking data and turning it into insight, then seeing that insight turned into action.

The research and evaluation team is amazing. It is great to be in a group with so many talented individuals. No shortage of inspiration.

Youth voice and participation is also woven into the fabric of everything we do within the department. As the adage goes, “nothing for us, without us”.
