Receiving the results of your Leaving Cert is a big milestone – congratulations on getting this far!
With your results can come a lot of emotions – excitement, happiness, relief, anxiety, stress, and a feeling of being overwhelmed. It’s normal to feel one or more of these emotions and it can be a lot to process.
However you’re feeling about your results; remember it is not the end of the road, but the beginning.

Discuss your options with an expert
There is a lot to think about once you have your results. You can chat through your options with an experienced guidance counsellor at The National Parents and Students Leaving Certificate Helpline. This service is a call and/or text support line for both parents/guardians and students to help navigate the results day and discuss next steps with a qualified guidance counsellor.
- Where: Freephone – 1800 265 165 – or text GUIDANCE to 086 1800 685
- When: The helpline will be open from 10 am to 5 pm on weekdays (22nd, 25th–29th August) and 10 am to 2 pm on Saturdays (23rd and 30th August). Text replies will be sent during helpline opening hours.
Talk about how you’re feeling with Jigsaw
There can be a lot of feelings that come with getting your results, including feeling disappointed, anxious, or overwhelmed. It can help to talk these feelings through with a mental health professional. You can chat online to a member of the Jigsaw team. There is no waiting list, and the service is always free. The conversation takes place over text and lasts up to an hour. It is a great way to get help in coping with how you’re feeling.
