what do you do when you just feel so sad to a point that you can’t even cry anymore. you just feel so empty and worthless and it’s the middle of the night so you can’t talk to anyone about it. and even if u did try to talk to someone they wouldn’t fully understand how your feeling so it would b hard to tell them.

Hi Rosie,

It sounds like things are very difficult for you at the moment. Everybody experiences sadness in different ways. Sometimes when we feel overwhelmed, we can feel a bit numb. That might be a reason that you feel you can’t cry anymore.

Sleep

Feeling down can be very uncomfortable and unsettling. It affects lots of different parts of our lives too. It sounds like this is affecting your sleep. When we are lacking in sleep, everything can seem so unmanageable. Low mood and sleep go hand in hand. So you might find some ideas here to improve your sleep.

Opening up

When we are feeling low, it can be very isolating, and we can feel that others don’t understand our experience.  I get your apprehension about telling someone how you are feeling. However, it might surprise you how compassionate others can be once you give them the chance. Read more about how to start that conversation here. If you are worried that they won’t fully understand how you feel, let them know this. It might be helpful for them to just listen.

Can you think of a trusted person you could open up to? This could be a family member or close pal? It can seem daunting at the beginning, but you can take things at your own pace. If you don’t feel comfortable talking about it just yet, writing a letter to the trusted person can work too.
