An alternative Valentine’s theme for February
Let’s face it, the best thing about Valentine’s day is discounted chocolates in shops in the days that follow. No matter what your relationship status, this year has been challenging.
A lot of people in relationships have found themselves separated by 5km travel restrictions. As for single people, dating has either been put on hold or moved video chat. We can all feel societal pressures to tick certain boxes; meet someone, get married, get a mortgage, have a child. These pressures can often be reinforced by parents whose lives would have followed these sequential events.
Many of us may be feeling the frustrations of having life on hold at the moment. But, remember there are no boxes that need to be ticked or timeframes for certain life events. Whatever our circumstances, we could do without the traditional Valentine’s messaging.
Jigsaw’s rolling gallery in Dublin city centre
In the middle of a Januray lockdown, we could all use a message of hope and positivity. Jigsaw Dublin City volunteers have provided just that.
They have been working to create a rolling gallery in the windows of the service. The aim is to spread a message of hope to passersby or on social media.
Jigsaw Christmas update
Jigsaw services and Live Chat will be closed from 5 pm on 23 December, reopening on Tuesday, 4 January 2022.
Here are some services that can support you in the meantime:
THE FESTIVAL OF NOW
According to our MyWorldSurvey, the top 2 coping strategies for adolescents are enjoying music (54%) and friends (56%).
So, we are thrilled to partner with POD for The Festival of Now, a unique festival film celebrating the heart of music and arts in Ireland today.
The Festival of Now is a brand new film, which showcases a variety of Ireland’s best musicians, poets, and performers.
The film will feature performances plus interviews focused on the collective experience of the past year, delving into the importance of music and art for our mental health.
Not just in your head
We can often find it difficult to talk about our anxieties and worries. It’s not unusual to form a habit of thinking it’s “all in my head”, or “not a big deal”.
